The course “Organization of Activity of Community Police Officers” for cadets of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs commenced symbolically. Representative of the Preventive Activity Department of the Main Directory of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region delivered the first lecture for future community police officers.
Valentyn Koliadenko, senior inspector in specific claims of the Community Police Officers Department, police major, made an introduction into the discipline for cadets. He delivered his lecture conjointly with Mykola Repan, senior lecturer of the Administrative Law, Process and Administrative Activity Department.
In course of the lecture future law enforcements learnt how significant was the work of community police officers, as well as their key duties.
According to the speakers, this activity requires full devotion, resistance and the ability to combine skills of an operative officer, investigator and expert. Besides, they have to be even psychologists and social workers for citizens simultaneously.
“A community police officer has to not only actively cooperate with a local community, but also be aware of all events taking place there. This will help to prevent criminal situations timely”, Valentyn Koliadenko emphasized.
During the lecture, cadets actively participated in the discussion and asked about various professional issues. In particular, they were interested in efficiency rates in terms of community police officers work, training aspects worth paying attention to during studies, technical supply of police officers as well as peculiarities of communication with previously convicted persons.
