Greg Young, trainer at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay (Behavioral Health Training Partnership) and Fox Valley Technical College Public Safety Training Center, Crisis Intervention, Resilience/Resilient Leadership & Post Traumatic Growth Consultant (USA), as well as police representatives of police chaplains of the USA and Ukraine met with DSUIA management.
Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs was represented by the Rector Andrii Fomenko, police colonel; first vice-rector Oleksandr Yunin, police colonel; vice-rector Oleksandr Sydorov and vice-rector Serhii Komissarov, general of police of the third rank.
First of all, the Rector told about the key directions of DSUIA activity since the start of the war and new format of educational process according to current requirements. He presented the activity of the staff in terms of providing psychological aid to doctors, giving legal consultations and firing as well as pre-medical aid courses. He also emphasized the operation of the Consultation center in providing rights and freedoms of the defenders of Ukraine opened previously.
“Saturated work and implementation of volunteer initiatives are provided by DSUIA staff. Our activity is directed to state protection, while cadets demonstrate their patriotism and professional approach to studies. Besides, the important stage of the future law enforcements training is their spiritual development. Thus, I am sincerely grateful to Greg Young for having delivered a professional lecture for our cadets”, Andrii Fomenko stated.
In his turn, Greg Young thanked for the opportunity to visit the university and join the process of educating future police officers.
“We had been cooperating with Ukraine fruitfully before the large-scale war. When I saw the news on russian invasion, my wife told me: “I feel that you will go there”. And I replied: “I have no other choice””, Mr. Young told.
Ukrainian chaplains told about the activity of chaplain service among law enforcements. According to them, currently chaplains work at 12 regions of the state. Their key task is spiritual support of law enforcements and their families, mentoring and even volunteer assistance to all who need it.
At the end of the meeting speakers paid attention to further fruitful cooperation and joint projects directed to the support of moral state.
