The right to education during the war: we are improving protection mechanisms!

The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Constitutional Right to Education in Ukraine under Martial Law” was held at the initiative of higher education students at the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs.

The event was opened and participants were greeted by the Rector, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, and Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Andrii Fomenko, who noted that today Ukrainian science mobilized efforts to find ways to solve problems caused by war.

“In the research of young scientists, innovative ideas and views regarding the future of Ukraine arise.  Today’s scientific event is dedicated to the consideration of the issue of the realization of the constitutional right to education in the conditions of martial law.  The event will have fruitful results and will attract the attention of both our students and cadets, as well as the student youth of Ukraine and foreign countries,” said the rector.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, doctor of legal sciences, Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko, congratulated the participants and wished them fruitful discussions;  Chairman of the Third Administrative Court of Appeal, Doctor of Philosophy in Law Anatoliy Korshun;  deputy of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, head of the department for humanitarian, socio-cultural spheres and education of the administrative apparatus of the provincial council, candidate of science in public administration Liliya Hyrenko and director of the communal extracurricular educational institution “Small Academy of Pupil Youth Sciences” of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, candidate of pedagogical sciences Nataliya Tyahlo.

The head of the humanitarian, socio-cultural sphere and education department of the executive apparatus of the regional council, candidate of science in public administration, Liliya Hyrenko, presented the rector of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs Andrii Fomenko a thankfulness from the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council Mykola Lukashuk for his invaluable contribution to the education and upbringing of university graduates education, support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and forced migrants during the russian aggression.

The academic and practical event was moderated by: Vice-Rector, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Larysa Nalyvaiko and Head of the Department of International Relations and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Oleksii Khalapsis.

More than 140 participants from Ukrainian and foreign institutions took part in the event: Oxford University (England); Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania); Klaipėda University (Lithuania); Jan Kohanowski University (Poland); Hakkari University (Turkey); Georgian Technical University (Georgia); University of Athens (Greece); Pondicherry University (India); Gobetti College of International Relations (Italy); Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (Bulgaria); Warsaw Polytechnic University (Poland); Lviv Polytechnic National University (Lviv); Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (Kyiv) and others.

At the scientific and practical event, reports were presented about the peculiarities of education in institutions of such countries as England, Italy, Poland, Canada, Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, etc. In particular, Platon Panasenko, a student of higher education at the first bachelor’s level majoring in “Administration” at the Warsaw Polytechnic University, spoke about his experience of studying at the Warsaw Polytechnic University.

Anastasiya Voronova, a student of the first bachelor’s degree of correspondence studies in the specialty “Management” of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management and the specialty “Marketing” of the Gobetti College, told about the peculiarities of studying in Italy.

Rabiv Güven, a graduate of the first bachelor’s degree majoring in “Teaching English” at Hakkari University, presented the features of the education system in Turkey.

The reports of the students of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs – participants of the academic mobility program of the European Union Erasmus+ of the Jan Kokhanovsky University, Kateryna Khmelenko and Anastasia Gordienko were interesting.

During the event, the participants discussed the mechanisms of protection of the right to education in the conditions of war; features of distance education in higher education and academic mobility of students of higher education.

Based on the results of the scientific and practical event, the young scientists approved a resolution on improving mechanisms for the protection of human rights, in particular the right to education.
