8 Steps to Leadership in Changing Times: Round Table at DSUIA

Round table “Young Leaders: 8 Steps to Leadership in Changing Times” was held online at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. This event was devoted to the 55th anniversary of founding the University. The representatives of 103 scientific establishments and higher educational institutions from 18 regions of Ukraine took part in it. More details in the material.

The event aimed at discussing actual issues, up-to-date approaches and mechanisms of leading features formation in young scientists from Ukrainian HEIs.

Mariia Vakulich, head of DSUIA Council of Young Scientists, was the moderator.

Andrii Fomenko, DSUIA Rector, police colonel, opened the event. He stated that up-to-date approaches to leading features formation in young scientists were vital for the state to develop.

“Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs is the platform for obtaining necessary skills and competences by young scientists. This year DSUIA celebrates its 55th anniversary. During this time over 36 thousands of highly qualified law enforcements, lawyers, deputies, judges, generals, heads of state power and local self-government bodies as well as outstanding scientists have become the graduates of our institution”, Andrii Fomenko emphasized.

Besides, Rector stated that holding events of such level on the University basis was the ground for making priorities in increasing quality and efficiency of scientific research in the context of economic, political, legal and international development of Ukraine.

Participants of the round table included Larysa Nalyvaiko, DSUIA vice-rector; Olesia Vashchuk, head of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; Mykola Kravchenko, deputy head of the Science, Higher and Professional Technical Education Department, head of the Science, Higher Education and Certification Expertise Office of the Education and Science Department of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration; Nataliia Dereviahina, head of the Council of Young Scientists in Dnipropetrovsk region; Liudmyla Horokhova, director of the Ukrainian Association of Management and Business Education Development. Moreover, practical workers and representatives of social organizations took part in the discussion.

Olesia Vashchuk applied to the participants of the round table. She mentioned the entire fruitful cooperation on the actual topic and congratulated DSUIA on the festive date having wished the University new achievements.

“The reports planned for delivery will contain all the discussion subjects, including leadership in changing times, young leaders in state service and social leadership. We will have an opportunity to evaluate all the results during our round table”, she stated.

Mykola Kravchenko also joined the greetings.

He paid attention to the following: “You are doing a great business, and we as an administration support young scientists and students of our region. It is a really big work. The Council of Young Scientists conducting a number of events functions in Dnipropetrovsk region. In addition, our department has initiated 3 contests for young scientists, where up to 100 participants take part in annually. And today we are discussing an extremely actual topic”.

The University scientists, who won the contest “The Best Young Scientist of DSUIA”, were awarded in terms of the event. It shall be mentioned that the contest was initiated on the basis of our HEI last year. Andrii Fomenko, DSUIA Rector, awarded the winners.

Mykola Yefimov, associate professor of the Criminalistics and Pre-Medical Assistance Department occupied the 3rd place. Roman Karpenko, lecturer of the Civil and Legal Disciplines Department, occupied the 2nd place. Hanna Blinova, professor of the Administrative Law, Process and Administrative Activity Department, occupied the 1st place.

The specialists delivered their presentations in course of the round table. Key questions included leadership and digital culture of a lecturer, strategic leadership as life art, leadership competences formation, etc.
