The morning of January 20 in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I.I. Mechnykov seemed very busy. The civilians came to donate blood to save those who found themselves under the rubble of a completely destroyed high-rise building in the Peremoha housing estate. Among those who care are cadets of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs.
Some donated blood for the first time, while others are regular donors.
A total of 75 higher education students came to help medical workers save the lives of victims.
Before donating blood, donors were examined by a general practitioner. They had their blood pressure measured and their hemoglobin level checked.
“There is no such thing as someone else’s grief. Today I am here because I want to help my neighbor. We are motivated by the principles of brotherhood, mutual support, and mutual assistance,” says Dmytro Safonov, a first-year cadet at the Faculty of Criminal Police
Representatives of the DSUIA replenish the blood bank of the region regularly. This time, they became donors for patients who suffered from the impact of a Russian rocket on a high-rise building. Currently, 32 people who miraculously managed to survive are being rescued at the Mechnikov hospital. Among them, 9 are severe.
The employees of the medical institution reminded the citizens of Dnipro: a healthy person aged 18 to 60 years and weighing more than 60 kilograms can become a donor. You can donate blood once every two months.
