The Day of the Assembly of Ukraine was celebrated in Dnipro

Unity, collegiality, and indivisibility are the fundamental principles of Ukrainian state formation. In honor of the 104th anniversary of the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic, a solemn event was held in Dnipro.

Representatives of the power and law enforcement agencies, the public, and the clergy gathered on the Alley of Heroes. Police colonel Oleksandr Yunin, the first vice-rector of DSUIA, joined the celebrations.

The event was opened with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine.

The participants put flowers on the stele with the names of the defenders. A moment of silence was observed for all those who over the centuries gave their lives for an independent Ukraine. They also remembered the innocent victims of russian aggression.

Assembly Day is celebrated every year on January 22. It is a memory of two significant historical events: the declaration of independence by the Central Council in 1918 and the unification of Naddnipryanshchyna (Dnieper Ukraine) and Naddnistryanshchyna (Dniester Ukraine) within a single state in 1919.

The Unification Act became a fundamental document that testified to the desire of Ukrainians for freedom and independence. It is considered the starting point of modern Ukrainian state formation.
